The Windermere is an award winning, small London Hotel of enormous charm and character, where the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Having established a wide reputation, many of our guests are introduced by personal recommendation, a tribute to the individual care and attention given to all. AA, RAC & ETC: 4 Diamonds rating, AA: Silver Award, RAC: Dining Award. Also winners of the "British Tourist Authority Trophy" from the London Small Hotel Awards in addition to winning a "Certificate of Distinction" from the British Tourist Authority.

relax
All rooms are well-appointed, most with en-suite facilities. There is satellite television, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and direct dial telephone in every room. Apart from the usual single, double and twin rooms, we have a number of family rooms. For the discerning traveller we have superior rooms which are larger than our standard rooms and are available either as king size or twin bedded and are equipped with a bath tub in addition to the shower in the bathroom.

Numbers 142 and 144 Warwick Way were built in 1857 as a pair of private dwellings and are fine examples of early Victorian classical design. Number 144 was probably the earliest "Bed and Breakfast" hotel in the area when in 1881 it became the locally famous "Pimlico Rooms."

location
The Windermere Hotel welcomes you to the heart of London. We are strategically placed for Victoria Underground, Rail, Bus and Coach Stations. With the Gatwick Express Terminal, Victoria Station can probably boast the best city to airport rail facilities in the world. The journey to Gatwick Airport takes just 35 minutes and Heathrow Airport is easily reached by London Transport, Airbus or Underground. A public garage car park is situated to the rear of the Hotel.

For The Business Executive:
Travel connections to both the City and the West End are numerous. The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre is within walking distance.

For Shopping:
Chelsea (Kings Road and Sloane Square) is nearby. Knightsbridge, where you will find Harrods along with other famous Department Stores and boutiques, is within close proximity. Oxford Street and Regent Street are only 2 stops away by underground. We are easily situated for all parts of the capital and within easy reach of most of London's attractions. Buckingham Palace, the Tate Gallery and Westminster Cathedral are nearby. Within one mile you can discover Westminster Abbey, The Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Whitehall, Downing Street and The Cabinet War Rooms. Within two miles are Trafalgar Square, the National Art Gallery, Soho, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, the bookshops of Charing Cross Road and the world famous "theatreland" district around Shaftesbury Avenue.

    hotel critic: harrison brown
A quality, small B&B hotel close to Victoria Station. Nicely decorated and well run small hotel. A very good option in an area of budget hotels. Acknowledged by various authorities and publications for their attention to detail. Only 22 rooms, therefore they cannot be the cheapest hotel in the market, but certainly one of the best small hotels in the area. Three star equivalent. Small restaurant in basement, with good reviews.
