I stayed in te Troy Hotle hotel in May 2006.
The hotel itself was furnished to a very high standard with modern facilities, the rooms, if a little on the smaller side were very comfy with a minibar and television.
The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. The location of the hotel too was excellent, situated five minutes away from the busy shopping/eating area of Queensway and Bayswater and the tube is only a short walk away to get into central London. Taxis and buses are aplenty on the adjoining Bayswater Road, with Hyde Park across the road.
I will definately be staying here again.

I stayed at the Troy for 5 nights and was not disappointed at all. For the price of a single room, I got way more than my money's worth. The rooms are well aerated, very clean and comfortable. Excellent service, will definitely stay here again.

Excellent value for the hotels-london price. Friendly and efficient service, rooms well renovated, clean and well-equipped. Our room also had a fridge. Tremendous location, breakfast still modest but adequate. We had a window onto the street but it was still quite quiet, even with the window open.

Only minuses are the rooms can be smallish, warm and floors occasionally very creaky, but that can hardly be avoided in this type of older building.

The hotel was a very pleasant surprise and lived up to the good reviews here and it is hard to imagine getting more in London for the price, especially at this location.

lovely hotel but few minor details need to be brushed up on. breakfast good quality but limited.

I spent two nights at the Troy Hotel in late September. I found it very satisfactory indeed and a great bargain. My single room was small, but well furnished and comfortable. The reception staff were welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast was more than acceptable, but I think it would benefit from the addition of some cold meats. All in all, I can certainly recommend the Troy Hotel and plan to stay there again on my next trip to England.

I recently spent two nights at the Troy Hotel and was extremely pleased. My single room was small, but not too small. The bath was spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The bath towels and bed linens were of high quality. The included breakfast was more than acceptable, although I would welcome the addition of some ham or another cold meat. I found the reception staff to be pleasant, accommodating, and professional. All in all, I consider this hotel to be a genuine "find" and I look forward to visiting it again.

This was a really lovely hotel. The rooms were modern and bright and the staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were more than adequate for us as we very rarely eat cooked breakfasts. The location was good but the road outside was really noisy and although a couple of nights was OK I don't know if I could have stood a whole week. The hotal across the road is also being refurbished and the builders were starting at 7.00 so need for an early wake up call. All in all an excellent hotel.

A wonderful small hotel that was truly a value! If you stay in the summer, please remember that there is no A/C - however, you do have a fan. It does get warm, though. Breakfast is adequate; but it would be nice to have warm croissants!

A well located, beautifully appointed, excellent value hotel which has a few niggles that could easily be put right to make it perfect. Not much can be done about the small bedrooms, the ridiculous shower cabinet or the noisy street outside but the boring breakfast needs attention (food & staff)
plus "Miss Efficient" at reception needs
to be told that part of her job is answering questions as well as photocopying guests passports the second
they step in the door. This is a hotel
that tolerates guests rather than welcomes them however dont let my remarks put you off, this is a must stay
venue if you are in the Bayswater area.

Excellent Value, spotlessly clean, Fan and kettle in room. Breakfast great, staff friendly. Only complaint, no BBC2
which being Wimbledon week was a real
disappointment. Did report it to reception,
was told receiver was down?! Didn't come back for the 4 days we were there!!

My third visit to this hotel Still exceptional value. TVs in rooms now get all terrestrial channels. There's now a kettle in each room and a fan. All we need now is full English breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly. I'll be back in October.

The rooms are spacious, very well maintained and clean with modern decoration, and have hair dryer, digital safe box & tv (with radio channels). The staff was very helpful and the breakfast fresh. The hotel is conveniently close to Queensway tube station. This hotel really is a 4star for London satndards!

This hotel offers the best value for money of any hotel that I have stayed in in London. It offers comfortable accomodation with TV, fridge, and safety deposit box in the rooms, which are clean and well maintained. An adequate breakfast is included in the room rate. It's position is excellent with plenty of public transport and dining facilities in close proximity. Not a thing to critisize. This is where I will be staying on my next visit to London.

It is quite a miracle to find such an hotel in London for such a price (via hotels-london, the price being much higher when you check directly). The hotel part of the staying is always the worst when going to London. Not anymore. This is a first quality place to stay. The furniture is somewhat a little kitsch but everything is clean and you feel like you're in a little palace. If I don't rate 10, it's only because of little technical details in the bathroom. The breakfast is correct although not fantastic too. I definitely will come here next time I'll go in London. My son was delighted.

Good location. Close to Tube stop. Rooms clean, staff very friendly. Secure luggage storage for early arrival or late departure. For London a great price through this booking service. Modern showers with vigorous hot shower stream. Breakfast was more than adequate for our appetites. We stayed one night at each end of our trip. Both rooms were clean, quiet, comfortable beds. I will recommend this hotel. Certainly was ten times better than our hotel in Paris (for the same price!) The staff was very friendly, helpful and professional. Through the hotel booking site, our room rate was 78 pounds per nite for two people/ two twin beds. The rate posted at the hotel desk gave the daily rate as 120 pounds, so through this hotel booking site, we received a great discounted rate.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Troy and we enjoyed it immensely. We are regular visitors to London and so we are fussy - this Hotel is one of the best at this price and better than many more expensive ones.
Only drawback - PLEASE...tea/coffee making stuff in rooms - the facilities in reception are not adequate and not in keeping with a hotel in this category.

Good Hotel

Good location - quiet but very handy for local amenities and public transport. Offer price was a bargain. My single room was big enough with very high quality fittings. Clean and modern. Staff friendly. My only complaint would be the occasional window-rattling din from the central heating system - at least in my room.
I'd certainly stay there again though.

Beautiful hotel (clean, comfy, tastefully decorated, fluffy pillows, duvets and towels)...excellent value...great, accessible location...extremely helpful and friendly service...only complaint is that I reserved a smoking room and apparently there aren't any.

Lovely hotel, tasteful furniture, good beds, very clean overall.Tea and cofee facilities would be a good advantage, after a long hard day shopping or sightseeing, Overall excellent value, helpful friendly staff.

Overall a very nice, spick & span place. Definitely recommendable, although not sure how high rates soar in the peak season (I had a great-value-for-money winter rate of 40 quid). Drawbacks: 1) Everything new but already "lift out of order" 2) much too warm in rooms (see description of other entries here) and not individually adjustable and FAR too stuffy in breakfast basement. 3) WC unit was shaky and detached from wall already, though it did function properly. 4) Peg in the sink is constantly down and not adjustable by respective handle. Tech staff admitted that was an overall problem, but generally shrug and leave it that way. 5) Internet access yes = 1 terminal in Conference room at excrutiatingly rip-off rates. If a meeting was held, access would not be possible.

Was quite wary of cheap rate but impressed by other comments in guestbook. Hotel was excellent. Spotlessly clean, lovely furnishings, friendly staff. Three small complaints. No hairdryer in my room (luckily I had a travel one with me), why are there not tea and coffee making facilities in each room? and could only get two channels (BBC1 and 2) on TV. Apparently they were having problems that day. Nevertheless I have already recommended it to people and I will return there on my next visit to London.

First things first: Excellent hotel, excellent room and 5 stars all-round. If however, I had to particularly picky, all I could commment on is that the rooms are extemely warm (noted in the other comments here) and we spent 3 nights with the window open (in November), which brought the room temperature down to a perfect level.

I really must say that the room is stunning. The quality of the furniture is second to none in comparison to other hotel rooms in london within this price range and the staff are absolutely great.

This is definitely the best hotel of its category I have ever stayed at in London. I cannot praise too highly the extremely kind and helpful staff, the comfort of the rooms and the beautiful and tastful furnishings. I shall certainly return to this hotel and recommend it 100%.

Stayed at the Troy for one night last Saturday.

Good location with three tube stations and Hyde Park in easy reach. Rooms were spacious, clean and very well appointed. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Based on my experiences in many other London hotels I would say that this is the best value I have had and will definitely stay again.

Stayed four nights...November 7 to 11th. Highly recommended. Good location a couple of blocks to tube stops and Queensway neighborhood which has many shops and resturants. Clean and very nicely decorated. Safe and small refrigerator in room. Room and bath are small but typical for London. Staff were excellent...front desk very pleasant and helpful, housekeepers did a great job. Breakfast included juice, cold cereals, toast and rolls, hard boiled eggs, cheese...although not a "full English breakfast"...certainly all you need for morning of sightseeing. My only complaint is that the temperature in the rooms was very warm...although our heater was turned off and the days were cool for some reason the room still got uncomfortably warm. We did borrow a fan from the front desk and and put it in the open window which cooled the room down at night. The downside is that the street below if fairly noisy, but earplugs solved that problem. I would highly recommend the hotel and certainly stay there again...but not in the warm summer.

Pleasant clean hotel, perhaps let down by the lack of in-room facilities. Coffee & tea-making facilities would have been appreciated as would a stocked mini-bar. Facilities in the foyer a poor substitute.
We found the level of heating for a mild early November week-end too much and not able to control the temp. in the room due to a fault with the radiator. However, staff quickly rectified the fault, so no complaint here.
Slight question over security as someone managed to open our bedroom door (card system) at 1 o'clock in the morning!
Altogether reasonable value for money and a good location though we would have preferred the option of a cooked breakfast.

Very nice hotel, the best I ever had in London in this category! Everything clean, room with huge wardrobe, good beds, spacious and luxury bathroom! We had a room to the back yard, so no glorious view but very quiet! Staff was very friendly and helpful (made phonecalls for us to book restaurant etc.) I will recommend this hotel anytime to any of my friends!

We stayed 19 and 20-Sep. The hotel was very good: new, clean, cheap and staff very friendly and helpful. Just a bit noisy if you need to keep the windows open.
Posted at 04:29 11 Jul 2003 by v mitchell Rating: 9
nicely done up hotel, lovely interior, friendly staff. Rooms on the street side are noisy if window open, and you will need to have the window open on stuffy nights! Comfortable bed, cotton sheets, lovely fluffy towels, marble tiled bathroom. Small but well-designed. Good value for money.

This most splendid hotel is truly a jewel of Ottoman hospitality in London! We were overwhelmed completely by almost everything: the interior design of the hotels with its marble baths (even in the public areas), the profesionalism and friendliness of the staff, the size and comfort of the room and, last, but not least, by the fluffiest, thickest towels made from luxurious Turkish terry cloth we ever had in any hotel. If you ask the corteous people at the reception they will even borrow you one of their cosy bathrobes during your stay (if they have not all been taken by the time of your request). The interior decor comes in very tasteful ton-sur-ton colours ranging from beige to burgundy and there is no (!) plastic visible in the room except for the good-sized TV set, below which you find a mini bar and glasses. Just because you very often find rather filthy sheets and blankets in London where the only exciting thing is the electric shock you'll receive when you touch them: Here they are of a gleaming white in a wonderfully soft cotton quality. The furniture is at least of the quality I have experienced in several rooms of the Claridge's, where it did not come in genuine veneer as in the Troy, but in (already pretty shabby) paint. To make the contrast even greater: The room there was only half the size for four times the price!

You will even find free gourmet coffee and tea 24 hours a day always freshly brewed upon demand and served on design porcelain in the lobby which you are welcome to take to your room on a stylish tray.

The proprietors and the staff (all of them perfectly fluent in English and some additionally in other languages - a rare find even in London!) are very respectful and certainly take all their pride from being perfect hosts: When we had a technical problem with a shower head on a Sunday, they bent over backwards in order to provide us an even better room and to make sure before we changed that everything functioned spotlessly in the new room before they helped us move our luggage.

The only space for improvement we could really find is the breakfast which is only basic continental and, therefore, a bit frugal. But this is easily balanced by the nice wintergarden where it is beíng served (even 30 minutes after the official time ;-)) by an exceedingly charming hostess.

All in all, the Troy is definitely a four star experience with five star service at a two star price!
Posted at 10:28 25 May 2003 by Will Joyce - Sydney Rating: 9
For the "star rating" of this hotel I found it excellent value for money. The staff are young and very friendly and in a city where it is hard to find the meaning of "service industry" they do a great job.

Big plus for the bedding - best sleeps ! and soft, big towels etc.

The only let down is the hotel foyer so it loses one mark for that - just a little too hotelly for my liking.

For a new hotel on the market that is close to two tube stations; a great renovation - I would call it modern traditional... give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

I stayed at this hotel last week. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were great. Hope to go back there soon.

It was great place, is something that has to be seen, very nice atmosphere and luxuries compared to the price. Very cheap too and excellent service. So close to Hyde Park (great view) and very close to Oxford St and Piccadilly Circus. I would recommond any one who is visting London to just have look at this hotel. We had lots of fun and a great time in London.
