| Helpful and effective staff, very nice english breakfast and clean budget hotel with good location, in a quiet nabourhood. The 5 bed rooms are too small, and we changed to a doubleroom plus 3 bed room. There is not enough space for luggage in any of the rooms. Can be recommended as a budget hotel. | |

| It is a budget hotel so I was not expecting much - didn't actually sleep the night as we used it for a base for the Moonwalk - the room however was clean, although a bit musty smelling, bathroom was clean and plenty of towels - the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking at budget then I would say this was good value for money. | |

| The room was on the top floor and so small i paid £120 for one night, nothing like the picture in the advert very miss leading. The bathroom was dirty and the toilet took 10 mins to refill and looked like it had never seen a toilet brush. There was no plug in the sink but enough chewing gum down the hole from previous guset to have no need for a plug. The kettle looked like it had a fungus growing inside it. The breakfast was a joke with one piece of bacon and the cheapest bread you could buy at Tesco. while having breakfast the table next to me was cleaned by a member of staff who just wiped the table with left over food that had fell off plates being pushed on to the floor. This said cloth was then re-used three more times without any sign of water, god knows how clean the kitchen was. This is the worst hotel i have stayed and would not re-visit |

| Generally good. I was a bit annoyed that we (family of 4 ) were moved to a smaller room without being charged less, but it was big enough (just) and clean; breakfast good - dining room very pleasant; bathroom OK (WC pan a bit stained) but fantastic/powerful hot showers. Very helpful and friendly staff. 4 mins walk to Paddington tube/station. Quiet at night/no traffic noise (probably as room was at the rear) We would stay again |

| we stayed in a tripple room in the basement . the look trhoug the window wasnt very exciting, we could only see the wall at the other side of the very small yard. as long as you don't want to stay in the room all the day the hotel is a very good choice for a trip. the room was tidy and the hotel staff was very nice and breakfast included. the room rates are worth the money. i would stay there again on my next trip to london. | |

| Second time here... Now in a double room. Spacious, clean and sighseeing Sussex Gardens. What more for 70 Pounds?. Good breakfast as ever. And of course a excelent location: you can reach all London from Paddington and Lancaster Gate stations. | |

| The room was clean enough, although some repair work was needed. I planned to take a bath on the morning of our departure and was rather surprised to find that there wasn't a plug for either the bath or the sink so a bath was definitely out of the question. Maybe just as well as the "hot" water was tepid and I therefore had a quick shower. However, the breakfast was excellent. |

| Our large group enjoyed our stay here very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which is not always the case in London hotels! It is close to Paddington station and lots of shops and cafes on London Street. We can recommend Mimos cafe. |

| Friendly and accommodating staff - only reservation would be the showers. We tested 3 rooms and all three had difficulties- but each had a bathtub as backup. Very clean. | |

| Cheap, clean, friendly and enjoyable. We could not ask for more. We'll stay there in our next visit to London. No doubt about it! | |

| On the hotels guide I requested a bath. On arrival there was only a shower but the staff were more than happy to move us. Pleasant staff, reasonably sized room and decor. Will probably stay again, good location. | |

| Clean, friendly hotel with reasonable sized rooms. The breakfast time is extremly early and short. Only from 7 to 9 AM. It would be fine to extend this at least to 10 or 10:30 AM. | |

| Stayed here twice in Nov 2003, 1 week apart. Rated well as value for money. Comfortable beds, rooms a reasonable size & quiet enough, good location for trains etc, and clean bathroom. On our 2nd visit however the bathroom and room cleaning on check-in was not up to scratch, although we did check in early. I'll stay here again based on first impressions. | |

| Rooms are clean and big enough.Friendly staff. I would recommend an option for room only and the rating would be one point up. | |

| I cant believe this hotel has got such good reviews on this site! OK it is a budget hotel, but i expected better for my money. The room was small and dingy, there was sky tv but the remote control was broken, the shower was impossible to use, and when we arrived there were no towels or soap in our room. The only real good point I would have to say is the location. | |

| Very convenient location - to both Paddington Station, the city, and buses. Internet Cafe around the corner, restaurants and shops too. Offerred a plentiful breakfast, lasted me all morning! Room was small, carpet old, but otherwise clean, and bathroom was fine too (spacy compared to the room). Ask for room facing back of the other hotels - mine was quiet. Staff was nice and corteous. | |

| This hotel is definitely very good value for the money. Believe me, having been to London eleven times I have seen quite a few hotels of very varying standards, to say the least. Athena comes out very well in my rating for several reasons: VERY friendly staff in the reception, a quite spacious room for three that looked tidy and clean, a solid English breakfast that keeps you going for several hours, and prices you can live with. To sum it all up: Among the tourist class hotels in Bayswater this hotel is from now on my number one choice. (And I've tried five or six others...) May I also add that I was very satisfied with booking my hotel thorugh Hotels London. (I have NOT been bribed to say this !!) Audun Flaaten, Norway |
